This one-week course introduces the intelligence or military analyst to many of the tools and techniques found within ERDAS IMAGINE® and some of its add-on modules. Defense specific applications form the backbone of this course and allow the students to see how to use the software in military scenarios. (5 day class)
Learn To:
- Understand basic multispectral theory
- Create customized preferences within the software
- Measure and annotate features on imagery
- Understand image information and histograms
- Use the Geospatial Light Table™ (GLT) to display multiple viewers, use thumbwheel enhancement capabilities, automatic roaming capabilities, and feature counting tools
- Import various data formats
- Recognize different military specific image and data types (NITF, RPF, CIB, CADRG,
DTED, etc.) - Enhance imagery using radiometric, spatial, and spectral techniques
- Mosaic images together to create a larger viewable area
- Perform terrain categorization using unsupervised and supervised classification techniques
to separate land cover types - Perform topographic analysis on terrain data (DTED), include creating shaded and
painted reliefs - Create effective annotation layers and map compositions
- Use the Global Retriever to catalog and query spatial data
- Use Leica Photogrammetry Suite (LPS) to create block files for stereo imagery and producing Digital Elevation Models (DEMs)
- Use Stereo Analyst to create 3D shapefiles and 3D model files from stereo imagery
- Use IMAGINE VirtualGIS® as a mission planning tool to create 3D worlds, fly-throughs,
and movies
